The war between NBA legend Allen Iverson and his ex-wife may be over, but his custody issues seem to be just beginning.
A family court judge in Atlanta, who awarded Iverson’s ex Tawanna Iverson
full legal and physical custody of the couple’s five children, layed
into the all-star baller, calling him a terrible parent and requiring
him to attend AA meetings.
“[Iverson] does not know how to manage the children; has little
interest in learning to manage the children and has actually, at times,
been a hindrance to their spiritual and emotional growth and
development,” the judge started.
“For example, he has refused to attend to an obvious and serious
alcohol problem, which has caused him to do inappropriate things in the
presence of the children while impaired,” he continued. ”He has left
the children alone without supervision. He has left his young daughters
in a hotel room with men who are unknown to the mother.”
Besides Alcoholics Anonymous, the judge has required Iverson to see a
shrink to deal with his emotional issues. In addition, the former NBA
player cannot drink alcohol for the next 18 months and until his
children have reached the age of adulthood, he is forbidden from
drinking within 24 hours of seeing his kids.
Iverson’s life since high school has been a string of
disappointments, run-ins with the law and confrontations with authority.
Still, the baller was one of the most electrifying players an NBA court
has ever seen.
Hopefully, The Answer can get his life back on track for the sake of his kids.
